In response to increased elephant movement and strengthen protection measures for the Indian side crop lands and settlements along the Indo-Nepal Mechi River boundary, a joint meeting was held between Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and NWA. The discussion focused on the recent increase in elephant movement across the river and the resulting risks to local agriculture and villages.

The key strategies included identifying high-risk points, improving real-time data sharing, and coordinated patrolling between SSB and forest official, and community sensitization initiatives. SSB committed to assisting in quick alert dissemination and patrol coordination, especially during peak elephant movement periods. The collaborative approach aims to reduce crop and property damage, ensure community safety, and promote coexistence in this sensitive border area.
