Date: July 16, 2025
Place: Magartola Village
On 16th July 2025, around 2:00 AM, a wild elephant entered Magartola village, located in Kolabari Beat under the Panighatta Forest Range of the Kurseong Forest Division, and caused considerable damage to a residential property.

This incident is part of the ongoing human-elephant conflict affecting many forest fringe communities across North Bengal, where close proximity to elephant corridors often leads to such encounters.
In response, the Nature and Wildlife Association (NWA) extended immediate financial assistance to the affected family. As part of its ongoing work, NWA continues to support communities in conflict-prone areas through timely relief, awareness initiatives, and collaborative efforts aimed at reducing human-wildlife conflicts.
