A capacity-building session was successfully held today at the Kathambari Forest Rest House, bringing together ground staff from all 9 ranges of the Baikunthpur Forest Division for practical training on snake awareness, bite management, and safe rescue practices.

This program was designed to equip newly inducted and existing forest personnel with the essential knowledge and hands-on skills to handle snake-related incidents effectively—prioritising both human safety and snake conservation.

The training was led by the team from SPOAR (Society for Protecting Ophiofauna & Animal Rights), who conducted engaging sessions covering species identification, first aid measures, rescue protocols, and conflict handling with professionalism and clarity.

We sincerely thank:

  • DFO, Baikunthpur Forest Division
  • RO, Apalchand
  • Forest Department, Government of West Bengal
for their continued support and logistical coordination, which helped make the event seamless and productive.

We appreciate the active participation of all attendees who made this initiative meaningful. Together, we’re building a more prepared, informed, and responsive forest workforce, strengthening our joint efforts in wildlife conservation and human-wildlife conflict mitigation.
