Electrocution is indeed a great threat to wildlife in human interface.NWA have five anti electrocution cells in North Bengal. This year, Kurseong Forest Division maintained the streak of zero electrocution incident for elephants and other wildlife. This achievement claims the shoutout for each and every stakeholders who made this happen through their continuous effort, prompt action and a common love towards wildlife. This year, we completed the field survey from 18th to 21st March 2025. Today, we gathered at Bengdubi FRH for ‘Anti electrocution cell’ annual meeting.
In presence of ADFO, Kurseong division, the representatives from Panighatta Forest Range , Bagdogra Forest Range , Bamanpokhri range, Tukriyajhar range, and Ghosepukur range, West Bengal Police department, SSB, BSF, Block administration representatives, Panchayat representatives, JFMC representatives, Tea Garden representatives and NGO representatives from Nature and Wildlife Association , The Jumbo troops , Nature Help Organization ,and most importantly West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (WBSEDCL), all the stakeholders discussed the reports from field survey and tried to find solutions all together.
TheY identified sagging lines, naked open cutout kiosks, slanting poles, all kind of anomaly data on wildlife movement route data provided to WBSEDCL for their prompt action. We thank all the stakeholders for doing their part rightly to save our mother nature with all her flora and fauna.
