Human-Elephant Conflict (HEC) mitigation remains one of NWA’s core areas of work. The organization actively supports conflict-prone landscapes across North Bengal, including the Kurseong Forest Division, Baikunthapur Forest Division, Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary, Jalpaiguri Forest Division , and adjoining elephant movement corridors.
To strengthen rapid response efforts, NWA has established and trained Primary Response Teams (PRTs) comprising local volunteers who assist frontline Forest Department staff during elephant-related emergencies. The organization also provides logistical and vehicle support to forest department as part of their Quick response team vehicles whenever required, helping improve response time and community safety.
