Run for Elephants : 10K Road Race on World Elephant Day
On the occasion of World Elephant Day 2026, Nature and Wildlife Association (NWA), in association with Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) and the Forest Department, Government of West Bengal, organized the “Run for Elephant” 10K Road Race from Air View More, Siliguri to Sukna, Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary.
With 85 enthusiastic runners participating, the event brought together citizens, youth, conservationists, volunteers and nature lovers with a shared message — protect elephants, secure their habitats, and promote peaceful coexistence between people and wildlife.
The run was more than a sporting event; it was a movement to raise awareness about elephant conservation and the importance of protecting elephant corridors and safe movement routes across the North Bengal landscape.
